This primer is tailored to help those new to digital cable television technology. The goal is to provide familiarization with the technology and relate it to the cable industry’s day to day acronyms and vocabulary.
Today we talk about encoding and go over the various types of encoding. For this primer, we are sticking to audio and video as is used in the Cable TV (CATV) industry. If you are unfamiliar with some of the acronyms such as HD-SDI and ASI, we recommend first viewing our earlier video, “Alphabet Soup – Digital Interfaces”.
