Music saves lives. Besides encouraging relaxation and reducing stress, music therapy has been shown to affect sleep patterns, improve memory, and decrease the need for medication.

Music is also a powerful instrument for fundraising.

A praiseworthy case study can be found with the Husson and NESCOM chapters of the Public Relations Student Society of America. For these chapters, the best way to honor a former student who battled childhood leukemia is to give back to the Eastern Maine Medical Center – with music.

The 3rd Annual Music Saved me Concert is a fundraising effort for the medical center’s pediatric wing and will feature local artists. If you are located in the Bangor, Maine area, a link to tickets can be found here.

The PRSSA chapters also toured the pediatric wing to see first-hand where their fundraising efforts were going.

Music events and continued support from the community can mean life for patients. To get involved, contact your local medical center’s public relations department.
